Varicose veins usually occur in the legs. Normally, valves in your veins keep blood flowing, but the valves in varicose veins are either damaged or missing. This causes the veins to remain filled with blood, especially when you are standing. Varicose vein therapy delivers laser energy to the affected tissue to resolve the problem at the source. The laser causes the vein to close and the body automatically routes the blood to other, healthy veins.
Varicose vein laser therapy is minimally invasive. The physician makes a tiny incision to guide a laser fiber to the target area. The incision does not require stitches and the patient can return to regular activity immediately. Varicose vein therapy patients at DRI Greensboro are fully able to walk out of the office on their own when the procedure is complete.
Other offered varicose vein therapies include phlebectomy and sclerotherapy.
